Find A Song
about sex and desire

Seraphina Simone - Skin

It ties into a book I was reading about a devout woman in Bible Belt America who marries young for duty, and then falls for someone else in her 40s and starts an affair. The whole book was about the contradiction between her emotions and her upbringing, how what her body and heart were telling her was right was seen as sinful. I think as women we’re often taught to tame our desires, to make them fit into something that is palatable and acceptable for the male gaze or an outdated expectation of how a woman should behave, and by doing that we lobotomise a part of ourselves. ‘Skin’ is about that inner conflict.

Find A Spng
that examines female persecution and righteous female anger

Luna Neptune - Your Gods

The song was inspired by pagan religions, the Scottish witch trials, online “witch hunts” and several news articles about male Trump supporters persecuting women wearing Hijabs’, days after Trump’s election.

Added to FAS Spotify playlists indie folk and female empowerment.

SAVE THE PLAYLISTS!

Dear all,

while some old playlists will definitely be deleted at the start of the new year, you still have the chance to save others - by following them on Spotify and thus convincing me that they’re worth being kept. So please have a look / listen and subscribe if you like what you hear.

(There are genre playlists, e.g. alt rock, indie folk…, but also themed playlists about mental health, female empowerment, hope… Each of them are updated regularly with the songs featured on the blog and at the end of the month cut down to a maximum of 50 tracks so they don’t get too long.)

Thank you for checking them out and hopefully you’ll Find A Playlist 😉😘
